Eldon Ray Stowe, 87, passed from this life to eternity on September 20, 2022. He was a Greer County Native, born on September 13, 1935, in Brinkman, son of Clark & Wilma Potter Stowe. He was the last member of the 1954 Class of Reed High School. He held Membership #11 in the First Families of the Twin Territories thru his father who was born in Indian Territory in 1905. The family made their home at Jaybuckle.
After graduating, he made his way to Texas, where he waited for his sweetheart, Nancy, to complete her education. They married in Everman, TX, on April 6, 1957 and celebrated 65 years together. After 2 years in the US Army, they began their family which included 2 sons and a foster daughter.
Ray was a gifted woodworker, starting his own cabinet shop in 1975. He retired in 2000 as owner of Stowe Custom Cabinets, Forest Hill, TX, where they made their home.
Another of his talents was singing. For many years he sang bass in the Keynote Singers Quartet, performing at nursing homes and churches. He was also a song leader for various congregations, beginning as a teenager at the Reed Church of Christ. He served churches in Forest Hill, Everman, and Highland. He was a faithful Christian at Highland Church of Christ.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; sister Gayle; and brother Charles; and son Douglas. Survivors are his loving wife, Nancy; son Russell and wife Lori, Fort Worth; grandson Robert and wife Shana, Forest Hill; granddaughter Jessica and husband Brad, Forest Hill; daughter Cathy and husband Johnny, Arlington and grandchildren Aleisha and Austin. Great grandchildren Jai-Lynn, Liliana, Madi, and Caden. Brother-in-law Perry Mack Flories, Fort Worth. And a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday, Sep 23 at Laurel Land Funeral Home, Fort Worth
and Services at the Highland Church of Christ on Saturday, September 24 at 10
am. Burial will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Cemetery.
