Patsy Aneida King Burnam was born on May 25th, 1942 in Houston, Texas. She passed away in Mangum, Oklahoma on January 9th, 2024. Patsy’s early years were shaped by her upbringing; she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Jess and Ora Williams, until the age of 12 when she was lovingly adopted by Merle and Oneida King. Additionally, she became a big sister to three young boys, which brought great joy to her life.

Patsy, a talented alto singer, graduated high school in 1960.

Her musical gift led her to become a cherished member of the traveling choir during her college years, where she forged enduring friendships and created lasting memories. After high school, Patsy’s life took a meaningful turn when she met her beloved husband, Mike, in a Sunday school class. Their love story blossomed into a marriage that lasted for 8 days short of 61 years, a testament to their deep connection and unwavering commitment to one another. Upon graduating from college, Patsy embarked on a distinguished career in education, spanning over 40 years and touching the lives of countless students in three different states. Her teaching style was characterized by unwavering encouragement and boundless positivity, traits she brought home, influencing her family and friends in profound ways. Patsy’s enthusiasm in the classroom left an indelible mark on her family, inspiring not only her husband but many other relatives to pursue careers in education. Patsy’s life was enriched by a multitude of passions and talents.

Beyond her singing, she found solace in the pages of books and displayed remarkable skill in sewing and quilting. One of her favorite projects was making “piggy quilts” for many family members. Her devotion to her Christian faith served as the cornerstone of her existence, providing guidance and strength throughout her journey. In her later years, Patsy discovered immense joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. Her optimism remained a constant in every situation, a beacon of hope and support to her family and friends. Patsy was a woman of indomitable faith and joy, and to know her was to love her.

As we bid farewell to Patsy, we reflect on the immense impact she had on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her legacy of faith, positivity, and encouragement will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Patsy will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a source of inspiration and love.
